Frank Olt Exhibits Summer Rain at 2025 Tokyo-New York Friendship Ceramic Competition
Frank Olt is pleased to announce his participation in the 20th Tokyo-New York Friendship Ceramic Competition, hosted by the Ceramic Artist Friendship Association, Inc. (CaFa). His selected work, titled Summer Rain, is a wood-fired ceramic painting and will be on view as part of a juried exhibition celebrating the creative dialogue between artists in New York and Tokyo.

Held at The Nippon Gallery within The Nippon Club (145 West 57th Street, New York, NY), the exhibition will run from May 15 to May 21, 2025, with a public reception on Friday, May 16 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM.
This annual cultural event brings together 100 outstanding ceramic works—50 from each city—evaluated by a distinguished panel of jurors including Toshio OHI Chozaemon XI (Japan Art Academy), Shinichi Doi (former conservator, The Metropolitan Museum of Art), Cora Rosevear (former Associate Curator, MoMA), and Dr. Michele Bambling (Director, Japan Society Gallery).
Presented by CaFa and sponsored by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, All Nippon Airways, the Consulate General of Japan in New York, and other cultural organizations, the exhibition highlights aesthetic innovation, technical mastery, and the continuing vitality of ceramic art in contemporary practice.
Frank Olt is honored to present Summer Rain as part of this international exchange, strengthening the longstanding sister-city bond between New York and Tokyo through the language of clay.
