Gallery Onetwentyeight is widely recognized as the longest-running gallery in the Lower East Side, founded in 1986 by artist and A.I.R. Gallery co-founder Kazuko Miyamoto. The space has been a steady LES anchor for nearly four decades, hosting an eclectic mix of experimental and community-rooted shows, from juried exhibitions with the Art Students League to independent projects by emerging and established artists.
Recent and past programs underline that legacy: collaborative exhibitions with the Art Students League (2024), as well as group and solo presentations by artists such as Maxwell Stevens, Mieko Mitachi, Toki Ozaki, and George Hirose—a snapshot of the gallery’s deep, intergenerational footprint on the LES scene.
“GROUP SHOW” continues that lineage under curator Zak Vreeland, whose recent projects at Onetwentyeight have highlighted sharp, concept-forward group exhibitions.
Join us on November 13 to celebrate Frank’s new multi-glaze ceramic work and the enduring history of this landmark Lower East Side gallery.
